Die Geruchberge

Die Geruchberge explores the invisible connection between people, mountains, and memory.

I have often noticed that people who love the mountains always return to them. Not only for the views, but for a feeling that is difficult to explain. Perhaps that feeling even has its own scent.

The smell of cold air.

Wet rocks.

Pine trees.

Scent cannot be photographed. Yet it has the power to bring us back to places that have shaped us.

Through photography, I explore the traces that these places leave within us. The images do not attempt to represent a scent itself, but rather the emotions, memories, and sense of belonging it awakens.

This project is an invitation to reflect on our relationship with place and to consider how landscapes continue to exist within us, long after we have left them.
